"The most startling aspect of nutrititon situation in India is that it is not much of an isssue in public debates or electoral politics."
Despite substantial improvement in health since independence and a growth rate of 8 percent in recent years,under-nutrition & hunger remains a silent emergency in India, with almost 50 percent of Indian children underweight and more than 70 percent of women and children with serious nutritional deficiencies such as amnesia.
We have been doing our bit towards education of the yound child since our inception. It was about time we looked into the matters, perhaps more important than education, of nutrition & hunger of the underprivileged children of society. We strongly believe that in 21st century, no child should go to bed with a hungry stomach, at least not in the world's fastest growing economy.
On the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya, we organised a food campaign in collaboration with Civil Dept. Of GLA University, for the vulnerable & underprivileged people in Chhatikara,Mathura.
In our own way, we tried to assimilate the meaning of Akshay Tritiya (which translates to 'endless prosperity') into their lives.
As it has been the tradition of Udaaan, our team of committed volunteers came forward to successfully organize this event as well.
A quality meal was served to everyone present, young & old. Our efforts at providing them with a plateful meal was more than overwhelming for they struggle everyday for a sqaure meal.
Our volunteers took care of it that every child had plentiful to eat & that they don't have to go to bed with an empty belly.
